Our Priest


The Vestry of St. Mark's Church is pleased to announce the appointment of Reverend Canon George W. Brandt, Jr., as our Interim Priest-in-Charge, as of January 1, 2019.  Canon Brandt received his BA from Franklin and Marshall College, his JD from Boston College, and his MDiv from Nashotah House Theological Semiinary. He was a practicing attorney with the US Securities and Exchange Commission, US Attorney's Office, SDNY, before going into private practice with Rogers and Wells. Following completion of his MDiv degree, he was ordained by Bishops Paul Moore and James Montgomery.  He has served in many different capacities in Chicago, Buffalo, Atlanta, NYC, and Central Africa. Canon Brandt was most recently the Rector of St Michael's Church in NYC from which he retired after 17 years as Rector.  

  

Canon Brandt has served St. Mark's as Supply Priest this Fall when not previously scheduled elsewhere. He will be with us for our Christmas services on December 23rd, 24th, and 25th, before assuming his permanent Interim Priest-in-Charge role on January 1st. In his time with us this Fall, Canon Brandt has proven to be an excellelnt preacher, welcoming all with warmth and a sense of humor.  We appreciate the kindness he has extended to us during this transition period and look forward to his being with us in a permanent capacity on January 1, 2019.
